"It begins with one dot. From there, one million possibilities present themselves. Does the dot become a line? Does the dot become a spiral? Is the dot joined by hundreds of brethren in close proximity until they form a solid shape? Is it destined for the background? Is it part of a pattern that will guide the eye to an important element in the foreground?

One million possibilities. All from one single dot. This is the concept that defines the artistic styling of Sally Sun.

Imagine one dot as one idea, and this concept also comes into play when discussing the mindset behind her works."

"Of course my pieces have a meaning or a message or a feeling behind them. Even the weird ones or the ones that are mostly patterns and shapes. But I've never been the kind of person to tell someone else what they should think. I just don't think it's right to force an opinion on people. That same sentiment exists in my artwork: it's not up to me to tell you what the piece means because that meaning is personal and really only relevant to me. Once the artwork exists as its own entity, it's up to you to decide for yourself what it means to you."

Sally

Born in Seoul, Korea, artist Sally Sun was adopted at age 3 and raised in Southern California. Encouraged to pursue the arts in her youth, she developed a wide range of artistic interests and techniques over decades of study and practice.

Influenced by the natural world around her, popular culture, world mythologies, and the mystery of the human spirit, Sally creates art as a means to communicate her life's experiences. By combining her graphic design sensibilities with her fine art techniques, she creates works of technical contrasts - creating intrigue at the surface while daring the viewer to come closer and explore the messages underneath.

She currently resides in Long Beach, California, and continues her path as an active fine artist and graphic designer.
